Went to San Antonio this weekend for one last "HooHa" (a.k.a. Party) with my closest friends and family. We (me, hubbie, daughter no.1, daughter no.2 and best friend Cristie) left Friday afternoon. Once we got checked in we took the trolley to the Mercado (Flea Market). We went to eat at Mi Tierra. We waited for 1-1/2 hours! The hostess told me 30-40 minutes when she gave me our number to watch for. We met a friend and her daughter that used to live next door but moved to San Antonio last year. We had a great dinner. Afterwards we all piled in her Jetta like a bunch of circus clowns. She gave us ride back to our hotel which was just several blocks away.
Saturday we got up early and took the kidos to Schlitterbahn. Some more of our friends (that used to be neighbors but moved) met us there with their kids. The friend and daughter from the night before met us there as well. We rode a bunch of rides, floated the lazy river and headed out of there at about 5:00 so we could get back and get ready for a night on the river walk.
We met my BF's brother in the bar at our hotel for a few drinks before we went out. He gave us $100 in gift certificates to Pat O'briens so that is where we headed for dinner. The only place to sit was in the piano bar. It was REALLY loud in there. The food was good, but it would have been better in a place where we could visit with each other. Friend from the other night and a co-worker of her's met us there and then we went to Durty Nelly's.
I really like Durty Nelly's. If you have never been, you need to go if you get the chance. The only downside is that it is small and crowded. They have a piano player too that doesn't play constantly, rather in short sets. The one that was there Saturday night was good. The best song of the night was about a "Friendly Pussy"...I was laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes. They are great about getting all the people in the bar singing along. We stayed there until about 11:30 PM sitting outside on the patio, throwing peanuts at each other, then we went over to Howl At The Moon. We lost a few of our partiers...they turned in for the night. Howl at the Moon was fun, but not as much fun as Durty Nellies. Probably because we lost have our crew and it's just much larger. They had dueling pianos there.
Here in Houston I've never been to a piano bar or anything like what they have there. It was a great time!
